After sixty-seven years of selling real Texas barbeque The PIT has closed its doors for good. In August of 2009 the Tarrant County, Texas Regional Water District used its eminent domain powers to purchase The Pit to build Lake Kay Granger near downtown Fort Worth.  The historical old restaurant will be a bridge pillar. Thus ends the oldest wood burning barbeque pit in the county.

Although all are sad to see it go, you can purchase the recipes and barbecue rub that made the PIT famous for more than a half century, including:

  • Spareribs
  • Brisket
  • Barbecue Chicken
  • Pinto Beans
  • Potato Salad
  • French Fires
  • Cole Slaw
  • Barbecue Sauce
  • Onion Rings
  • Brisket Stew
  • Macaroni and Cheese
  • Peach Cobbler
  • 7-UP Cake
  • Pecan pie

all for $25.00.

The Original PIT Barbecue Rub is available for $5.00 for a two ounce package, plenty enough for a brisket or several big racks of ribs or half a dozen chickens.
